SISTIC to enter traffic ticketing market

SINGAPORE, SIN - SISTIC announced long anticipated and widely welcomed plans to enter the traffic ticketing market last night at a meeting between the company's board of directors and shareholders.

The move has been in the works 'since signing the last agreement with the National Artistic Congress (NAC) to provide ticketing services to all concerts, plays, art galleries and sporting events in Singapore', says vice-chairperson of SISTIC Vincent Fan Koh.

Business analysts say the move will help strengthen SISTICs position as a ticketing service provider to pretty much everything except school-organized and charity events which is a market with no growth potential. "SISTIC's move will finally fill the obvious gap it has had regarding it's absence in the lucrative fines and summons industry. It also ties in with the government's plan to privatize parts of the country's auxiliary services to increase efficiency", says Lim Peh Ling, a public sector adviser from Ree and Ong consultancy.

SISTIC head of business Halley Heidra says, "this is a big-step forward for the company, which until now has only been able to overcharge door prices at every venue within Singapore's Maritime borders with the over-the-top penalties and law-breaking industry largely untapped." She added that the company will not stop looking for other avenues to explore, "today, the traffic police, tomorrow, the world."

Traffic Police (TP) Commissioner Chin Chow Chang says the traffic police welcomes the move, as traffic offenders could now direct their ire towards the faceless corporate entity instead of innocent traffic policemen.
